Teen ADHD Evaluation

Find out why focus, organization, and follow-through feel so hard

It's Not Laziness. It's ADHD.

If you've been called lazy, unmotivated, or told you "just need to try harder" - but no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to focus, finish tasks, or stay organized - it might not be a character flaw. It might be ADHD.

We specialize in evaluating teens who may have been missed by traditional screenings - especially girls, queer folks, and anyone with the "inattentive" presentation that doesn't look like the stereotypical hyperactive child.

What to Expect During Your Evaluation

Our ADHD evaluation goes beyond simple questionnaires to give you a complete picture of how your brain works.

1

Clinical Interview

We discuss your experiences, challenges, and how ADHD symptoms have impacted your life at school, home, and with friends.

2

Standardized Testing

We use validated ADHD-specific assessment tools, including measures of attention, working memory, and executive function.

3

Differential Diagnosis

We evaluate for conditions that can mimic or co-occur with ADHD, including anxiety, depression, and autism.

4

Feedback & Report

You receive a detailed explanation of findings and a comprehensive report with recommendations for accommodations and support.

Signs You Might Have ADHD

ADHD in teens often looks different than the hyperactive child stereotype. Here are some experiences that might resonate with you:

Inattention

  • Zoning out during class or conversations
  • Making careless mistakes despite knowing the material
  • Starting assignments but not finishing them
  • Losing things constantly (phone, keys, homework)
  • Getting distracted by random thoughts
  • Forgetting assignments, deadlines, or appointments

Hyperactivity/Impulsivity

  • Internal restlessness or feeling "driven"
  • Fidgeting, tapping, or inability to sit still
  • Talking too much or interrupting others
  • Blurting out answers or comments
  • Making impulsive decisions you regret
  • Starting many projects, finishing few

Executive Function

  • Struggling to start tasks (even ones you want to do)
  • Difficulty planning or breaking down projects
  • Chronic procrastination despite wanting to act
  • Time blindness - losing track of time constantly
  • Messy room, backpack, or workspace
  • Emotional dysregulation - big feelings, quickly

Important: You don't need all these symptoms, and you don't need to be visibly hyperactive to have ADHD. Many teens, especially girls, have the predominantly inattentive presentation - and they're often missed until the demands of high school or college become overwhelming.
